Mean Girls

From the view of a conflict theorist, the movie Mean Girls proves that certain factors do influence power. The girls in the movie show that gender, social class, sexual orientation, and race all link to there place in social status. They have classified the "Asians", or pointed out that some are homosexual, and also, that the girls themselves, are pretty, rich, and that's what makes them popular.

according to the status quo of high school, cliques are indeed in tact supporting the Social Darwinism thereory. There is a balance between powers. If the top of the social chain is where you desire to be you must be at least good looking, rich, and be the person everyone wants to be, to be popular. In Mean Girls Cady was new and pretty so the plastics adopted her. She had one of the qualities and that was enough for Regina to take her under her wing.

The main function I think is to prepare people. No matter what we will always be split up in groups. Think of the adult world. Ever heard of the middle class? Money plays a big role where we place ourselves. It could be necessary in some situations. I just want to know if we couldn't tell by clothes or cars how we would place people economically. Put the richest man and the poorest man in the same outfit and try to tell who's wealthier. Just a thought. But I guess the overall point is that in the world we live in separation is good, unless somehow, someone changes the mindset of the human species.

COGNITIVE PROFILE INVENTORY

1.According to this chart my learning style is a "Big Picture" learning style. I like to summarize and just get the general ideas only paying attention to details when I believe it is necessary.

2. Retracing is a technique I have tried. It is suppose to help you recall the image in your mind and it truly does. I use this when I am studying for test and I trace my notes.

3. Finding metaphors is a new style for me. I like when I can compare and relate subjects to what I am learning, so I think this will be useful to try.

Sam

Sam is someone who laughs when nothing is funny. She is the type of girl who gets jokes two weeks later. Although she is liked by many, I hate her. Ouch, she hits too. In all seriousness though, this is not a hate-Sam page. As much as I would like it to be, it's not. "Why not?" you may ask, because she is my best friend actually. I just like to express my friendship in different ways. Thank you.
